Early Life -
Ice Spice real name Isis Gatson born in 2000, grew up in the Bronx during her formative years but later graduated from high school in Yonkers. Her parent decided to move her out there to protect her from the dangers of the streets. But that didn’t help much due to her love for rap music, which made her decide to join the bubbling Bronx drill scene, which is plagued with troubled youths from the inner city. Kay Flock is a prime example, who is still on Rikers Island facing a murder charge.
Projects -
Though Ice Spice has a unique approach to Drill music, her producer Riot is the main man behind the production, who took a different angle with his samples. Her flirtatious approach on these drill tracks has captured the thirst of the young and desperate, but has also caught the eyes of a known platinum-selling recording artist name Drake who gave her a small co-sign.
If you listen closely she is pouring out her heart to an extent, but it’s bitter-sweet due to how she makes it clear she wasn’t in your best interest, to begin with.
Where are they now? -
It isn’t clear if Ice Spice is signed yet. There have been rumors that there have been offers on the table. But there has also been a lot of speculation when it comes to her future. Many of her impressionable audience believe she is an “industry plant”, and her reign in the light will be short, like leprechauns.
She has made it clear that her dad was in the industry as an underground rapper. But that has played no part in her career. As for now, all her hard work can be viewed through her TikTok where she went viral a few times, and through Twitter where she gets most of her love. With her buzz continuing to grow, to Ice Spice, we know a bright future is “Feelin You”.
