The LBGTQ Community Outrage By Netflix Jeffrey Dahmer Series

Many in the LBGTQ community called out the streaming platform – who have now removed the tag – saying they were ‘disgusted’ at the choice. One viewer from the LBGTQ community wrote: They put the new Jeffrey Dahmer movie under the LGBTQ tag, and I am disgusted. IT’S NOT AN LGBTQ STORY LIKE WTF.’

The series follows the infamous Milwaukee serial killer who murdered 17 people between 1978 and 1991 – many of whom were young, gay African Americans.

Was Jeffrey Dahmer Gay?

Yes, Jeffrey Dahmer was gay. He had difficulty accepting his homosexuality, which his conservative parents disapproved of, and based on their religious beliefs they considered a sin. Dahmer drank a lot of alcohol to deal with his homosexuality in his early teens. He started drinking at school, which he often attended drunk. His best friend was gay, and he was bullied at school.

His father sent him to the US army where he allegedly raped two men after he drugged them. He frequented gay bars and bathhouses where he met men whom he lured into his apartment usually with the promise of money for posing nude for him. After they engaged in sexual activity he would drug them with alcohol and sleeping pills so they would become numb and then he strangled them. He would take polaroid pictures of his naked victims and then he mutilated them.

Was Netflix Wrong?

Netflix was not wrong for tagging the Jeffery Dahmer series in the LBGTQ community section. This is a nasty part of the community that the LBGTQ community doesn’t want to see, but the story needs to be told like many others. It is not all rainbows and sunshine, and as the LBGTQ community continues to fight for equal rights and representation, representation should be viewed from all angles equally as everyone else, and not just the angles you choose to show.
