Drama from watching a Tyler Perry movie spilled over into real-life Tuesday when DeLand police alleged a woman stabbed her boyfriend in the chest after he became angered by the film, accusing his girlfriend of cheating and then hitting and biting her.

It was not immediately known Wednesday which Tyler Perry movie the couple were watching.

“She explained that after the movie was finished (her boyfriend) started to act hostile and was accusing her of cheating,” police wrote in a report. “Nau Jaa (Robinson) said that those movies are filled with drama and it must have antagonized him.”

Robinson reported that she got up from the couch and started to walk to the hallway, when the boyfriend started hitting her in the face. She then said she felt pain in her right thumb and saw her boyfriend biting her hand. The boyfriend then let go of the woman’s thumb and bit her on the back, police said in the report.

That’s when Robinson said she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her boyfriend in the chest, the report indicates.
