Although the chief of Uvalde's school district police Pete Arredondo halted cooperation with the Texas department of public safety many officers have continued.

Pete Arredondo, head of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) police, did an initial interview with the texas department of public safety (DPS) but has not responded to a request for a follow-up interview that was made two days ago, prompting people to believe he has halted cooperation completely.

Pete Arredondo has been facing harsh backlash from the media and the families of the victims, for his lack of judgment after failing to act during the Robb Elementary School massacre. Pete Arredondo was scheduled to be sworn into the city council today, but it was reported that his ceremony has now been postponed due to the funeral service of some of the first victims being laid to rest. Another news article reported that he was sworn into the city council behind closed doors.

Travis Considine, a spokesman for the Texas DPS, said: ‘Uvalde and Uvalde CISD departments have been cooperating with investigators. He also stated that ‘plenty of their personnel have done interviews and given statements to investigators, so it’s absolutely wrong to characterize both those departments as not being cooperative.’
